Six Mile Bottom sits in the heart of the old Cambridgeshire partridge belt, once famed for some of the best wild grey partridge shooting in the country. The original drives weren’t formally designed but evolved naturally through the estate’s head keepers and the sweeping, open farmland. Wadlow Farm, with its high chalk ridges and long, rolling slopes, became the core of the shoot from the mid‑20th century, producing fast, wind‑driven birds that defined the area.
Today’s simulated days follow those same contours, using the big skies and open ground to recreate the classic East Anglian partridge experience. Our bespoke clay trailer, designed and built by Richard, is fully portable and lets us recreate the fantastic wind‑driven birds this ground is known for. These driven‑partridge style drives are our speciality — fast, testing, and a defining part of true simulated game days.
Our first priority is the care of our beautiful countryside…
The clays we use are eco-friendly and carcinogen free, we insist that only fibre-wad cartridges are used, and we clear away cartridges after every shoot.
Hospitality at Wadlow Lodge
Meeting at our fabulous shoot lodge for a bacon roll and cup of coffee you will be able to take in the glorious views of Wadlow Farm before setting off for the shoot. We break for elevenses halfway through the shoot then return to the lodge after for a delicious lunch and a well deserved beer.
So what is all the fuss about?
At Six Mile Bottom Shoot we provide Simulated Game Shooting and Sporting Shooting to Individuals, Groups and Corporates. Our Simulated season starts in March and we shoot through to October/November, slowing down a little for December, January and February. We continue with Sporting events throughout the year. Located in the glorious Cambridgeshire countryside close to the Suffolk and Essex borders gives easy access to the A11, M11 and the A14. Simulated Game shooting is a fun and exhilarating version of clay pigeon shooting. Following the path of a “live game” shoot day we offer driven targets of Grouse, Pheasant and Partridge, set out in drives with elevenses and lunch after – you really can’t get any closer to real Game Shooting! Come and join us on a day and we will give you a truly unique experience.
