First Game Day Experience

If you are an experienced shot with a keen interest in trying your first live game day, but feel apprehensive about joining an established team — or simply don’t want to commit to the cost of a full driven day — then this is the perfect introduction to game shooting.

We begin with two simulated game drives, all fully driven and designed to replicate the flight of traditional gamebirds. Expect to shoot around 50 cartridges per drive, giving you time to settle in, build confidence and enjoy the excitement of a fast‑paced morning.

After returning to the lodge for elevenses, we move into an introduction to game‑shooting etiquette. This is your chance to ask questions and learn how to behave safely and respectfully on the peg — understanding neighbouring pegs, shooting your first bird, handling shot game, and much more.

We then divide the team into two groups to shoot an afternoon of live drives.

• Group One joins the beating line, gaining insight into what happens behind the guns and how birds are presented.
• Group Two take the pegs for the first partridge drive, experiencing the thrill of shooting live game in a supportive environment.

After the drives, groups come together to assist with picking up the shot game and loading it onto the game cart — an important part of understanding the full rhythm of a game day. The groups then swap, ensuring everyone has the chance to both beat and shoot. All guns will shoot 2 live game drives.

We return to the lodge for drinks and a traditional shoot supper at around 3pm, bringing the day to a relaxed and enjoyable close.
